Senator Tartgalione Announces $6.1 Million in CFA Resources to 2nd District

October 22, 2024

Investing in our community

Harrisburg, PA − October 22, 2024 —Today, Senator Christine M. Tartaglione announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority is awarding more than $6,157,594 in state grants to eight projects that support the public interest across the 2nd Senate District.

The grant dollars are made available through the Local Share Account, which allocates gaming revenue to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the Public School Facilities Improvement Program, which provides grants to public school districts and area career and technical schools for eligible facility improvement projects.

“In Harrisburg, my legacy is banging the drum to help bring Commonwealth resources to support projects that directly impact and benefit the constituents and city I am honored to serve,” said Senator Tartaglione. “Between the Local Share Account and the Public School Facilities Improvement Program, millions of direly needed dollars are being directed into communities that often experience the worst of the underfunding and lack of investment that has happened across Pennsylvania. From improving neighborhood parks to mitigating mold and other environmental issues in our schools, our Commonwealth can and must step up to improve the quality of life for all Pennsylvanians.”

The following projects are receiving investment from the Commonwealth Financing Agency include:

 Local Share Account grants:

  • McPherson Square Library – $800,000
  • McVeigh Recreation Center – $1,000,000
  • Congreso Education and Workforce Training Center Improvement Project – $773,058
  • Frankford Transportation Center Transit Oriented Development – $1,000,000
  • Piccoli Playground – $750,000
  • Shadow Trax Media Arts Youth Program – $124,248

Public School Facilities Improvement Program:

  • Francis Hopkinson School Roof Replacement Project – $821,239
  • Thomas A. Edison High School Culinary Ventilation System Replacement Project – $889,049
